This position is the operational and financial audit director for
Internal Audit. The primary responsibilities would be to assist the
Managing Vice President-Internal Audit in managing the internal
audit function, including developing and maintaining an annual
audit plan and risk assessment. This role involves planning,
managing, and executing audit projects, performing quality
assurance reviews, and ensuring compliance with regulatory
requirements. Additionally, the individual will hire, train, and
develop audit staff, maintain standards set by the Institute of
Internal Auditors, and build relationships with key clients to
address concerns and align with corporate strategies, enhancing the
department's effectiveness and value to the organization and
Board.
Essential Functions for this role include:
Under the general direction of the Managing Vice President-
Internal Audit, the individual in this role is responsible for
preparing the annual risk assessment and implementing a risk-based
audit plan to assess, report on, and make suggestions for improving
the Corporation's key controls.
Responsible for overseeing and/or performing complex audits of
higher risk areas such as fund investment management, retirement
plan administration, legal and regulatory compliance, tax,
treasury, investment accounting and funding, corporate accounting,
payroll, and other areas as needed.
Responsible for the identification of key or critical vendors, and
overseeing or performing due diligence reviews thereof, while
ensuring that the vendor relationship owners are involved and aware
of any potential concerns.
Develop and/or maintain procedures, schedules, priorities, and
programs to achieve Internal Audit department objectives and goals.
Actively monitor and review the planning, scheduling, coordinating,
and reporting of the work of the business audit teams to ensure
that the audit plan is accomplished on time and that the audit work
meets audit, accounting, and professional practice standards.
Continually update the assessment of the control environment,
keeping abreast of significant control issues, trends, and
developments and communicating these issues, including recommended
changes in approach to the Managing Vice President - Internal
Audit.
Develop, train, and coach staff to help them reach their potential
and achieve personal, corporate and departmental goals.
Communicate results of audit findings and observations with senior
management.
Identify and communicate to department personnel changes in
professional standards, authoritative accounting pronouncements,
compliance regulations, guidelines, and audit requirements.
Participate in the recruitment and hiring of internal auditors.
Attend and/or participate in continuing professional education
classes and training courses requisite to maintain and/or obtain
job related professional certifications.
Perform other duties as assigned.
If you have the following skills, we encourage you to apply:
10 years Internal Audit, risk management, compliance and/or public
accounting experience with five to seven years of technology,
security and/or financial industry experience.
BA/BS or equivalent experience (In Accounting or Business)
Certifications Required: CPA, CIA, CISA
Experience in the Financial Services (Investment Advisors, Fund
Management) highly preferred.
Strong understanding of financial statements, regulatory
requirements for Mutual Funds or Collective Investment Trusts.
In-depth knowledge of auditing practices, procedures, and
principles, sufficient to interpret and analyze complex
concepts
Extensive understanding of financial, operational, technology,
privacy, market, credit, and legal/regulatory risk.
Thorough understanding and familiarity with the COSO and CoBIT
frameworks and the control self-assessment approach for review of a
control environment
Experience with appropriate staff-to-management progression
Experience with Financial, Operational, Compliance, and vendor
management Audit Procedures
Securities Industry or Defined Contribution experience
